Fact Checks of the Seventh G.O.P. Debate – The New York Times

http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2016/01/28/us/elections/100000004042852.mobile.html?from=promo

I made the mistake of watching the debate last night while I mourned the AZ Wildcats home loss, thereby breaking their longest home winning streak in the country.

Start of Rant. Soapbox please!
It’s hard to express the feelings as I watched this dog and pony show. (One historical aspect of all these campaigns, is the issues discussed are ALWAYS the same! Ear. Isolationism. Taxes. Immigration. Economy. Welfare. Oil. nothing new here) I think one of the primary ability, if not the primary ability a candidate has to have is the ability to know which lie to tell and when to tell it. Even when confronted with direct evidence from interviews, campaigns, etc. ALL these guys lied through their teeth. Despite that, nowhere does anyone call then liars! Their lies have been integrated into the process under fact checking. They lie. Facts are checked. And we go on thinking this is a normal. Have we fallen so low as to expect so little of those we choose to lead us? And what is perhaps sadder is that mind set incorporates itself into our culture and  as us as individuals.
Integrity, Truth. HUMILITY, Apology. Recognizing when someone HAS been effective.
When someone comes along who is truthful etc. The stock answer seems to be “Yeah, but they won’t get elected”. So we keep getting these false leaders and wonder what the hell is going on! Well we get what we ask for.
So I’m posting this link cause it is the most extensive fact checking I have seen in a traditional media outlet. And don’t get me started about media.
Rant finished.
Thanks

This is a bummer! I have always loved the great age of exploration. Shackletons journey is one of the most remarkable ever! Despite all that happenend, not a single person dies! NONE! This amazing even to this day with all the fancy ger we have. And cell phones. Radios. Cameras. They were left in the hashest plae on Earth with no means to communicate to the outside world.

Since the crew was going overland, on the ice, dragging sleds behind them, Hurley was not allowed to take all the pictures, which we on glass plates, therefore heavy and fragile. The process used was the Paget process. He was also the first to take color photos in this setting.

Saguaro vandalism in Tucson

Saguaros biding their time

Try as I might, these destructive activities just make no sense to me. Why?

I grew up in Tucson, 1975 – 2007. It was a place I fell in Love with, Love st first sight as it were! I became who I am, there. A huge part of that was hiking and camping, living out of the back of my old International Harvester in the foothills. Waking to doves cooing.

There are two Saguaro National Monuments in Tucson. One in the east in the
Rincon mountains. The other in the west, over the other side of the Tucson Mountains.

Though this is terrible, you can look out over the bajada and see the Saguaros on the march in the desert. We may see this as permanent, but their march through the desert attest to their patience. They have Time. All we can do it seems is fight time.

It’s a place I’ll always miss and crawl into when the world gets a bit out of kilter.

Planned Parenthood decision

Texas has thrown out the suit against Planned Parenthood for what had appeared as “truth” in a heavily, and miseading video put out by an anti-abortion group. In add ition, 2 anti-abortion activists have been indicted.

Leaving aside personal beliefs about abortion, should we not at least be abe to trust the information we are using to make an informed decision is accurate and truthful, unencumbered by activist groups lies and BS.

If you have to lie, cheat, steal to try and make your point, perhaps it’s time to take a look at your point(s). Maybe it has no backbone?!

Sebring: Schools closed as EPA demands more water tests – CNN.com

http://www.cnn.com/2016/01/25/us/sebring-lead-water-investigation/index.html

This is amazing! I’ll bet Home Depot is having a rush on lead kits! Seriously. Is this really happening?
We live in a scientific world. This means we utilize any chemical we can to “make our world possible”. However this also means we live in a chemical soup, and believe, as we have been reassured time and again, the levels monitored are ALL at safe levels. I believe the EPAs primary job is this.
Given the thousands of chemicals I use and the severe lack of funding for proper oversight, there is not a way to test, much less keep track of chemicals in use. And even when we have mounds of days we are so beholden to companies and cool cash we don’t even bother to take prompt and useful action. We need only look at the horrible air pollution in our cities. We breathe, day in and day out, polluted air. So we now have TWO of the fundamental elements of life, water and air, unfit for living.
My own pet theory, currently unproven is this. We freak out when we hear of major events like Flint water, Salt Lake City inversions. These are troubling events. What is more troubling however is the daily ingestion of low level s amounts of  this heinous soup of chemicals we are swimming in. Think of the little 6 month old with NO immune system. The parents we care for when they can no longer manI’mage themselves. The deep breaths we take when we exercise, to, ironically, stay healthy. Nowhere to run to. Nowhere to hide.
Many chemicals damage our bodies. The heavy metals, merury, cadmium, lithium, etc. are specifically dangerous. The reason is these types of compounds take a long time to break down. Hence they tend to become more concentrated as one moves higher up the food chain.
