As sergeant Schultz might say on hearing this, We know nothing. Nothing!
And yet here we are with Trump. We all certainly needed a shakeup. But Trump?

Fact Checks of the Seventh G.O.P. Debate – The New York Times

http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2016/01/28/us/elections/100000004042852.mobile.html?from=promo

I made the mistake of watching the debate last night while I mourned the AZ Wildcats home loss, thereby breaking their longest home winning streak in the country.

Start of Rant. Soapbox please!
It’s hard to express the feelings as I watched this dog and pony show. (One historical aspect of all these campaigns, is the issues discussed are ALWAYS the same! Ear. Isolationism. Taxes. Immigration. Economy. Welfare. Oil. nothing new here) I think one of the primary ability, if not the primary ability a candidate has to have is the ability to know which lie to tell and when to tell it. Even when confronted with direct evidence from interviews, campaigns, etc. ALL these guys lied through their teeth. Despite that, nowhere does anyone call then liars! Their lies have been integrated into the process under fact checking. They lie. Facts are checked. And we go on thinking this is a normal. Have we fallen so low as to expect so little of those we choose to lead us? And what is perhaps sadder is that mind set incorporates itself into our culture and  as us as individuals.
Integrity, Truth. HUMILITY, Apology. Recognizing when someone HAS been effective.
When someone comes along who is truthful etc. The stock answer seems to be “Yeah, but they won’t get elected”. So we keep getting these false leaders and wonder what the hell is going on! Well we get what we ask for.
So I’m posting this link cause it is the most extensive fact checking I have seen in a traditional media outlet. And don’t get me started about media.
Rant finished.
Thanks

This Army Veteran Has a Powerful Message About PTSD for Sarah Palin

http://www.esquire.com/news-politics/news/a41384/ptsd-sarah-palin/
Bethea explains some yucky truths about PTSD. In the process blows Idiots like Palin out of the water. And shows why people of her ilk are so powerful-they reduce intractable issues that require thought to easy to swallow idiocy. In the process explaining why Palin types are so dangerous.
Of course she represents the anti thought people which is another sad story running through our culture at the moment.

The airstrikes on Doctors without Borders hospital

Airstrikes on Doctors without Borders hospital

Sometimes it’s hard to find words for heinous events like this. It’s being investigated which I am sure is small consolation to the victims and their families. The horror of this speaks for itself.

What I have to say now is that it blows away the idea of surgical strikes with no collateral damage.

We don’t keep statistics on collateral damage. What we hear is that this new way of fighting means no collateral damage. A good case of the military censoring information under the excuse of not keeping those statistics

Remember, collateral damage is a euphemism for people killed “accidentally”.

The War Prayer, by Mark Twain

via The War Prayer, by Mark Twain.

Should have put this in previous post, but I am in a rush to go shopping so I can make chimichangas for a potluck tonight.

This is a very good summation of how we feel about War. It helps me to stay sane when all the world is against Peace.

Enjoy

What The Pope Really Said About Kim Davis | ThinkProgress

via What The Pope Really Said About Kim Davis | ThinkProgress.

I read a quick headline about the Pope saying Conscientious Objection (CO) was a Human Right. I totally agree with that. However I couldn’t find an article that had any substance regarding that aspect of CO. All I could find was articles about Kim Davis. This is not surprising. As a country, we are incredibly militaristic. Since news media supports this ( a heinous dereliction of duty to me) one finds very little info about anything contradicting that tradition. So, once again, we get an issue that will sustain the drama and divert our eyes from the prize. So, I’ll be doing a more thorough cruise through the web to see what I can find. Certainly the traditional media will NOT be the place to look.

As to Kim Davis. I go back and forth about her right to deny licenses to gay couples wanting to get married. That is an issue for me, as for many others. I have never thought gay folks should ever be denied any right granted to others. Basic Human Rights once again and also my own personal belief and experience. What I have to resolve is the seeming paradox of gay folks asking for a religious right from the same institution(s) which have been instrumental for hundreds, if not thousands of years, in persecuting and killing, and scapegoating a whole class of Humans for whatever nefarious purposes they come up with.

In time, I hope to write more, and even perhaps, do my thinking out loud here in case any one happens to be interested.

Again, thanks for following! Whether it’s one or many, it gives me incentive to keep it going.

this looks rather Catholic with the round globe in the center. Reminds me of the headpieces worn by ministers.
