Too optimistic? Bernie was at one point also. Given much is infrastructure, Roosevelt would be proud. Don’t let the socialist label get you. Much of our country is socialist: roads, welfare, corporate tax breaks, military. We use socialism as a way to justify capitalism even as people vote against there own interests because the powers that be have been so effective at making socialism out to be contrary to our best interests. In actuality, we benefit from both.

We all win when students are treated as equals.
This is amazing! I’ll bet Home Depot is having a rush on lead kits! Seriously. Is this really happening?
We live in a scientific world. This means we utilize any chemical we can to “make our world possible”. However this also means we live in a chemical soup, and believe, as we have been reassured time and again, the levels monitored are ALL at safe levels. I believe the EPAs primary job is this.
Given the thousands of chemicals I use and the severe lack of funding for proper oversight, there is not a way to test, much less keep track of chemicals in use. And even when we have mounds of days we are so beholden to companies and cool cash we don’t even bother to take prompt and useful action. We need only look at the horrible air pollution in our cities. We breathe, day in and day out, polluted air. So we now have TWO of the fundamental elements of life, water and air, unfit for living.
My own pet theory, currently unproven is this. We freak out when we hear of major events like Flint water, Salt Lake City inversions. These are troubling events. What is more troubling however is the daily ingestion of low level s amounts of this heinous soup of chemicals we are swimming in. Think of the little 6 month old with NO immune system. The parents we care for when they can no longer manI’mage themselves. The deep breaths we take when we exercise, to, ironically, stay healthy. Nowhere to run to. Nowhere to hide.
Many chemicals damage our bodies. The heavy metals, merury, cadmium, lithium, etc. are specifically dangerous. The reason is these types of compounds take a long time to break down. Hence they tend to become more concentrated as one moves higher up the food chain.
Gillian Anderson had to fight for equal pay for the new X-Files miniseries http://www.theverge.com/2016/1/22/10815552/gillian-anderson-x-files-miniseries-half-salary-david-duchovny
I titled this as I did cause the South was so intent on missing the boat. Their chivalrous, charming, and ultimately the cause of their death was the same attitude expressed here.
Come on folks, if you’re gonna be sexist at least try and couch out in respectable ways. Of course when you’re this blatantly full of shit, there ain’t a shovel big enough our hole wide enough to hide in.
As a friend used to say, “This rankles my ass”.
Bethea explains some yucky truths about PTSD. In the process blows Idiots like Palin out of the water. And shows why people of her ilk are so powerful-they reduce intractable issues that require thought to easy to swallow idiocy. In the process explaining why Palin types are so dangerous.
Of course she represents the anti thought people which is another sad story running through our culture at the moment.
Hillary is not the woman I am boring for to get a woman in the WH. She and Billy Bob are to tired in writhe upper echelons of the money yes that make our political system so corrupt.
Go for Bernie!
The comment I found telling was how this year’s weather episodes in the North Atlantic are congruent with current models. How many chirping canaries does it take before anyone listens?
For some reason this doesn’t surprise me. Sex. Drugs. Rock and Roll.
On the past yokels, fringe lunatics had a following. They brought issues to the fore but they faded as folks realized the stupidity of them. Trump is so far beating the odds. I’m not saying other candidates are speaking and that anything would change. The electorate right now seems enamored of the idea we need to fall back to the 1950s when US was everything.
Because many think Trump is successful, despite his bankruptcies (a social benefit he drives from his wealth)
they think running the govt as a business will fix it all. My answer is to lengthy for here but I saw one poll I think explains in part Trumps success. People want their govt to protect them from terrorism. (Unless continental). To me, it’s only a dream. But people by a fair margin think owning guns will protect them if the govt won’t or can’t. We all are currently carrying a certain amount o of fear and angst these days. Only in the minds empty of ideas is gun ownership going to save the nation. When was the last time some one pulled out their Glock and saved a classroom? As I wrote this I get more perturbed at the idiotic, simple minded, uni dimensional solutions we get from politicians. Ill be posting a few items to try and bring some reality to this. At least from my POV.
We are taxed in order that the world we live in is a better place. This is part of the social contract we participate in as Americans. We can debate, and we do, how those taxes are spent and applied. However, I think and trust, most of us would agree, ALL should play under the same rules. Enjoy the article below.
