German Authorities Investigate Sexual Attacks On Women At Music Festival

Comedian Lewis Black would say, when hearing of problems such as this, (paraphrase) It seems as though the world has taken a turn. Unfortunately, this is not a turn, just what is another in the ancient and cultural long attack and terrorization of women. To wit: Pakistani woman burnt to death, Brazilian gang rape, and an especially disturbing item, Gangbang T-shirt.
There’s far more to say, but not enough room.

Trump should be no Surprise

Trump

It’s taken me awhile to understand how people could go for Trump.

In retrospect, it seems so obvious as to the reason why. Americans are spoiled. Living in the most prosperous country ever, we have at our beck and call a mind numbing choice of just about anything we desire.

Just the other day I went to the drugstore to get a feminine hygiene product for my wife who is recovering from pneumonia. This product is not something to enhance beauty where I can almost see why there are a multitude of choices. This was nothing anyone would ever see. It was simple, or so I thought, feminine pads. It took me 10 minutes to find the ones she uses. To make clear, I am not a stupid male about shopping, or about items women use.

The point of the above is only one of thousands of choices Americans have about everything consumer oriented.

There is a dark side to our consumerism which we have more information than ever about. The environmental costs of all these choices in our consumer oriented culture is staggering. I won’t go into those here. The point is even though we know in large part many of these costs we continue to ignore them to a great extent. The rationalizations are endless and we’ve heard them.

And so it is with Trump. Even though we see on a daily, if not hourly, basis the most obvious, heinous lies and statements, a considerable portion of the electorate still wants to, “Make America Great” again.

When asked about these statements, supporters inevitably say, “He’s just speaking about things we feel”. So we have a presidential candidate who taps into the darkest leanings of America and has legitimized them in a way reminiscent of George Wallace and his ilk. Forward to the past.

So his amazingly solid and stable support really isn’t surprising when viewed in the light of consumerism. Americans have always been able to fool themselves. The difference this time, is how obvious it is. Trump is only using our gullibility, to fool ourselves in the public arena.

Planned Parenthood decision

Texas has thrown out the suit against Planned Parenthood for what had appeared as “truth” in a heavily, and miseading video put out by an anti-abortion group. In add ition, 2 anti-abortion activists have been indicted.

Leaving aside personal beliefs about abortion, should we not at least be abe to trust the information we are using to make an informed decision is accurate and truthful, unencumbered by activist groups lies and BS.

If you have to lie, cheat, steal to try and make your point, perhaps it’s time to take a look at your point(s). Maybe it has no backbone?!

Sebring: Schools closed as EPA demands more water tests – CNN.com

http://www.cnn.com/2016/01/25/us/sebring-lead-water-investigation/index.html

This is amazing! I’ll bet Home Depot is having a rush on lead kits! Seriously. Is this really happening?
We live in a scientific world. This means we utilize any chemical we can to “make our world possible”. However this also means we live in a chemical soup, and believe, as we have been reassured time and again, the levels monitored are ALL at safe levels. I believe the EPAs primary job is this.
Given the thousands of chemicals I use and the severe lack of funding for proper oversight, there is not a way to test, much less keep track of chemicals in use. And even when we have mounds of days we are so beholden to companies and cool cash we don’t even bother to take prompt and useful action. We need only look at the horrible air pollution in our cities. We breathe, day in and day out, polluted air. So we now have TWO of the fundamental elements of life, water and air, unfit for living.
My own pet theory, currently unproven is this. We freak out when we hear of major events like Flint water, Salt Lake City inversions. These are troubling events. What is more troubling however is the daily ingestion of low level s amounts of  this heinous soup of chemicals we are swimming in. Think of the little 6 month old with NO immune system. The parents we care for when they can no longer manI’mage themselves. The deep breaths we take when we exercise, to, ironically, stay healthy. Nowhere to run to. Nowhere to hide.
Many chemicals damage our bodies. The heavy metals, merury, cadmium, lithium, etc. are specifically dangerous. The reason is these types of compounds take a long time to break down. Hence they tend to become more concentrated as one moves higher up the food chain.
