I know it’s corny and quite dated but… now for something completely different!
The idea is not surprising. The scope of it had become truly scary. The collection of data in order to ferret out criminals is heinous. I can only think that at some point they’ll want to use it in a way that involves the weak and innocent.
I made the mistake of watching the debate last night while I mourned the AZ Wildcats home loss, thereby breaking their longest home winning streak in the country.
Start of Rant. Soapbox please!
It’s hard to express the feelings as I watched this dog and pony show. (One historical aspect of all these campaigns, is the issues discussed are ALWAYS the same! Ear. Isolationism. Taxes. Immigration. Economy. Welfare. Oil. nothing new here) I think one of the primary ability, if not the primary ability a candidate has to have is the ability to know which lie to tell and when to tell it. Even when confronted with direct evidence from interviews, campaigns, etc. ALL these guys lied through their teeth. Despite that, nowhere does anyone call then liars! Their lies have been integrated into the process under fact checking. They lie. Facts are checked. And we go on thinking this is a normal. Have we fallen so low as to expect so little of those we choose to lead us? And what is perhaps sadder is that mind set incorporates itself into our culture and as us as individuals.
Integrity, Truth. HUMILITY, Apology. Recognizing when someone HAS been effective.
When someone comes along who is truthful etc. The stock answer seems to be “Yeah, but they won’t get elected”. So we keep getting these false leaders and wonder what the hell is going on! Well we get what we ask for.
So I’m posting this link cause it is the most extensive fact checking I have seen in a traditional media outlet. And don’t get me started about media.
And now for something far more interesting all this political crap
Since we live in a world based on science it’s always a good idea to try and understand science.
Fortunately, scientists are getting better at making science and why it’s important to be able to understand it.
It’s not hard. You just need not be scared off by something you initially don’t understand.
At some point riding a bike seemed impossible. But you practiced. And after a few falls, maybe some years, you could ride with no hands. Science is the same. All it takes is some practice to understand it. Which now that I think about it, is true of just about everything.
I try and look at the news or something different each day. Of course I am not successful.
Today I found this item. I am posting to show how global air pollution is and what a problem we have worldwide.
The cause of this illustrates another huge problem, slash and burn farming.
Nothing we do is an isolated act.
